I was witnessing to a truck driver at work one day and we began to talk
about the Holy Ghost. He told me that when he was a young teenager he was
constantly in trouble. In order for him to stay out of juvenile he started
going to some sort of Christian boarding home where he was able to stay. He
said that when they had service the people layed hands on him to receive
the Holy Ghost. He said he faked speaking in tongues just to be left alone.
I am Thankful for tongues and believe that God chose the tongues for a sign
that the Holy Ghost has taken up residency in a person. When the disciples
were spreading the gospel and traveling from city to city, they were not
able to wait for weeks or months with that person to see if the fruit of
the Spirit was evident in that persons life. There will always be the fakes
and the Lord has said that the wheat would be separated from the chaff. I
am a alter worker at our church and when I am praying for someone to get
the Holy Ghost I am listening for the sound of tongues so I know they have
received the Holy Ghost. I encourage my family to pray in tongues daily. It
does edify us.
