In the "debate " of what God can and cannot do I believe the word , "that
nothing is impossible to God "
But understanding that God's decisions regarding his creations mankind ,
the angelic host and the universe in general are always subject To God's
being able to change his mind.
for example;
Gen 6:6 And it *repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and
it grieved him at his heart.
Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the
face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the
fowls of the air; **for it *repenteth me that I have made them.
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
When God first made the world, the animals and Adam and Eve he pronounced
that it was good.
But** based upon his allowing mankind to make their own decisions, and its
effects on his creation He then proclaimed He had repented that He had ever
made man.
And when by their own fault, the people ofGod (the Israelites) had brought
the wrath of God upon themselves , it was Moses' prayers, petitions unto
God on behalf of the people that caused God to repent, or change His mind
about destroying them;....................
Exo 32:11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth
thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of
the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
Exo 32:12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did
he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from
the face of the earth? ***Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this
evil against thy people.
Exo 32:13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou
swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed
as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give
unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
Exo 32:14 **And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto
his people.
>Our Disobedience to God causes God to repent or change his mind against
fulfilling promises he has made regarding our future as he did below;
Judg 2:18 And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with
the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days
of the judge:**for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by
reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
Judg 2:19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, *that they
returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, *in following
other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; *they ceased not from
their own doings, *nor from their stubborn way.
Judg 2:20 *And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said,
Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded
their fathers, and have *not hearkened unto my voice;
Judg 2:21 *I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of
the nations which Joshua left when he died:
>And other examples;
1 Sam 15:35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his
death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD *repented that he
had made Saul king over Israel.
2 Sam 24:16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to
destroy it, the LORD *repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that
destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of
the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
Psa 106:45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and *repented
according to the multitude of his mercies.
Jer 26:19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to
death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might
we procure great evil against our souls.
Jer 26:20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the
LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who prophesied against
this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
Amos 7:3 The LORD *repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.
Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way;
and God *repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them;
and he did it not.
Lev 24:12 And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be
showed them.
1 Sam 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do
according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build
him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
Jer 15:1 Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before
me, yet my mind* could not be toward this people: cast them out of my
sight, and let them go forth.
Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will
of God.
1 Cor 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct
him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Rom 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his
counsellor?
>I think we can see, that sometimes God has said that he was going to do
something and did change his mind, This is in reaction to mankinds
behavior, wether they were diobedient and willful or if they were contrite
and repentant.
What it shows me is that we cannot put God in a box and say He can do this
and He can do that But He wont do this or he wont do that.
Who am I to tell God what he can and cannot do?
God is a sovereign being!
I know that **with God Nothing is impossible** and I know that even if I am
deserving of his judgment and punishment, God is faithful amd just to
forgive us (if we ask him).
***I personally have a **CAN DO** GOD!
He ** can Do** anything!***
He does not lie, he does not sin,
But he is unlimited in his power and ability .....
Thats the kind of God I serve.!!
Again.....
Rom 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his
counsellor?
