>Dave:
>No way...He'll never break His Word. If He did, then God lied and
>it's impossible for Him to lie.

ME: True God does not Lie
"Let God Be true and every *man* a liar."
But He *does, *can and *has changed his mind from time to time and has been
known to make an *exception to the rule also.
As I have said before..............
I have previously given a few examples as in the case of destroying Ninevah
(was Jonah forced to do something against his will? Yeah like his choices
were preach or die in this fishes belly), And yet God repented, changed his
mind about destroying Ninevah.
**DO you read anywhere in the bible where God said He would destroy Ninevah
**except they repent? NO! It say's clearly I am going to destroy them.
God did not say unless they repent.

BUT Jonah knew enough about Gods nature...That he is a God of mercy. And
here is Jonah saying I dont want to go preach and proclaim judgment on
Ninevah...Cause I'll have to preach exactly what you tell me too. *That You
ARE going to destroy them all.*
Then when they repent and you forgive them I Will look like a false
prophet.
(Please exscuse my taking liberties with describing what I believe to be
thoughts Jonah may have had.) But That is exactly what happened...Jonah
preached the judgment of God, Ninevah repented , and God changed his mind
, then Jonah got angry because God did not Kill them all.

And What about the first king of Israel, Saul? THe word says God repented
he had made Saul King and took the kingdom from him.

And in making mankind (originally God proclaimed it good) then because of
their behavior
God repented of this, and deciding to destroy them (said he was going to
wipe mankind off the face of the earth, but changed his mind when he saw
Noah),

What about allowing the Israelites to cross over into the promised land
(God promised them a land of milk and honey but changed his mind about
letting them cross over because of their disobedience, idol worship, and
murmuring and complaining.

And what about the scripture its appointed unto man once to die?
It seems God made exceptions for them didnt he?
Elijah went up in a firey chariot and did not have to die in the flesh.

What about those who died and were raised from the dead?
Jairus daughter? THe son of the widow of Nain? Lazarus?
The son of the Shunamite woman?
Does their having to experience death twice violate the word of God?

NO,
 God makes the rules and he can change them, make exceptions.
He is the one who in charge , the judge that we can go before and throw
ourselves on the mercy of the court.
Yes , he has every right to throw the book at all of us ...It's the Law.
 He's the JUDGE.
But he said .."I desire mercy".....
So dont put God in a Box.
Dont think we , puny little people can tell Almighty God what He can and
cannot do.
God you have to do this and you have to do that.....
I dont talk to Him like that..
I ask him,
Father, will you do this for me?

Knowing as Paul did "that in this flesh dwelleth no good thing".

>Dave:
>So you didn't come to Him on your own free will. He "made you
>believe in Him"? I thought we had a choice according to Deut.30:19.
>Didn't Joshua 24 indicate "Choose you this day whom you will serve"?
>If it isn't a choice, then we are robots...

ME:
This section was not directed to me , but I want to comment;
First of all the choice is this.
Heaven or Hell.
Every knee *shall* bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord to the glory of the Father.
The only choice anyone has is *where* will they spend eternity.
God is God.
That does not depend upon wether John Doe chooses to believe that he is or
not.
And let me make one thing clear, EVERY knee will bow and every Tongue
*WILL* confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That will not be a matter of
choice. They will worship him as God wether they want to or not.
Our country has got a philosiphy about "rights".
Womens rights, childrens rights, minority rights, gay rights.
You have the right to serve God now or burn for eternity.
God would rather you come because you love him, appreciate the sacrifice of
Calvary, that you realise you are a sinner in need of a savior.
*BUT* those who refuse him will not have a free ride.
There is a place of eternal torment prepared for those who refuse To take
advantage of his  saving grace.
there is a scripture that talks about the potter making a vessel and
compares Jesus to being the master potter and we the clay on his wheel.
Everyone saint and sinner alike are created by God.
And remember the scripture that says of the clay speaking to the potter
Who art thou to say to the potter Why has thou made me thus?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rom 9:15  For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have
mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth,
but of God that showeth mercy.
Rom 9:17  For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose
have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name
might be declared throughout all the earth.
Rom 9:18  Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he
will he hardeneth.
Rom 9:19  Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who
hath resisted his will?
Rom 9:20  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the
thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
Rom 9:21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make
one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Rom 9:22  What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power
known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to
destruction:
Rom 9:23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the
vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Rom 9:24  Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of
the Gentiles?
>Dave ;Dave:
It's wrong because God has done everything He said He's going
to do...It's up to us to apply what God said.
ME:
I dont agree, (I think God is still working on my behalf , I dont agree
with the statement that he has done all he is going to do.)
God does the work , He gets the glory.
Its is not my faith that *makes* him do it.
He is the one who is faithful.
He is  the one who is good.
I will not put myself in a position to brag upon myself that a miracle
happened and I get the credit because I have such great faith.
Hogwash.
To God Be the Glory.
Not by works lest any flesh should boast.***
Psa 34:2  My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear
thereof, and be glad.
Psa 34:3  O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Psa 34:4  I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my
fears.
Psa 34:5  They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were
not ashamed.
Psa 34:6  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of
all his troubles.
Psa 44:8  In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever.
Selah.
2 Cor 10:17  But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
2 Cor 10:18  For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the
Lord commendeth.
Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
To God Be The Glory.
