Sis:
> In those days most women were not educated, they did not read or write,
and
> according to traditional Jewish customs only the men recieved education
in
> regard to the Law of Moses and the prophets so there was much the women
did
> not understand about the word of God.

Me:
Amen, Sis! Also, in those days it was a custom for the women to sit on one
side and the men to sit on another (or to the back and front respectively).
The women yelling to their husbands must have been quite a disturbance!

Sis:
> Women are not supposed to teach or usurp authority over a man, but if the
> man in charge give a woman permission to speak, she is within her proper
> place .

Me:
Actually the verse says that the woman is not to usurp (obtain be forceful
replacement) authority over ***THE*** man. This is clearly her OWN husband
and has NOTHING to do wiht women ministers in church. Sister Demick even
pointed out that women were deacons in the early church.

It has been a while since I checked but I know for sure there were no women
bishops and I think no women elders (that right Sis?) but any other office
can be held by a woman as long as HER OWN HUSBAND has not has HIS authority
usurped (taken by force).

Sis:
> So if the Pastor invites a lady to the pulpit he is the one responsible
to
> God for what she says (her own self being accountable also), and he is
also
> able to set her down or correct her if she gets out of line.

Me:
Not being smart here Sis, but you would have to show me the Bible on this
stuff...

Almost forgot 8^D!
