I will look into my notes further but you are right in that women did have
positions in the early church.
*Phillips four virgin daughters who prophesied...You cannot hardly prophesy
without speaking and I wonder where it is that people think these ladies
prophesied at?
Perhaps the Market or town well?(being facetious, sorry)
And what about the letter to the elect lady and the church which was in her
house?

I have read much and heard many opinions on women in the ministry.
Everyone has their interpretation or views of what these scriptures mean.
I have even read such books as "Bossy Wives , Bobbed Hair and Women
Preachers" which I bought at a campmeeting book sale a few years ago, which
was a real slam aginst women in the ministry and women in general.

All I know Is I have seen and heard God annoint women.

If I had One woman only to be able to model myself after as a Christian I
would chose Sister Nona Feeman...Though after reading the book about her
mother Carrie Eastridge I felt I could thoroughly understand and sympathise
with Sister Eastridges life and ministry as
well.
I was able to meet Sister Freeman once,
These words of wisdom she shared...

"Hon,
One thing you have to learn if your going to be in the ministry....
Never take anything to heart anyone say's about you."

I can see the truth in these words but I never realized at the time how
hard it was going to be not to let the words of others penetrate my heart.
This can be Good words (also dangerous lest we be lifted up in pride and
self assurance) or they can be hurtful cutting words which leave some with
a wounded spirit.

Being a woman minister is not for the faint hearted.
You have to have skin like a elephant yet communicate with a delicate
touch.
(lest ye be accused of being amazon warrior type trying to be a man)

Ladies , men hate women who try to preach with masculine mannerisms.
But even the most staunch "women keep silent club member" can tolerate at
least to some measure the woman who stays in her place and remains ladylike
in her speech, actions, mannerisms.
These are my observations (Your mileage May Vary)

I also know I have seen women who claimed to be called to preach and used
it as a exscuse to rule over their husband saying "That God wants me to do
this, or go here in opposition to their own husbands desire". And What man
can over rule God ? So this is a very useful tool in some rebellious women
trying to get their own way at home .

(this is what gives women preachers a bad name and ruins it for the rest of
us.)

I believe a womans husband has to be saved (if she is married ) in order
for her to be able to minister, If not married she must be a older lady as
in the description of women who are widows indeed ...This was not saying to
give charity to w woman under a certain age it was not to accept her into
the ministry of women under a certain age , those who had given themselves
totally to the ministry, To Gods service lest they turn fall away from
their first love and marry.
Why else would getting married be a cause of causing one to fall into
trouble if it was a widow marrying a christian man? Because she had taken a
vow to the ministry.(been admitted to the fellowship of the ministry).

It is possible God might call a woman in order to have her prepare herself
for the ministry before her husband is saved but I dont think she can go
out preaching with out her husbands support and consent and authority.

It also appears that Jesus had a high regard to women and they were
included in his ministry group.
The Woman of Samaria turned out to be a great "evangelist" with the
simple street message "Come See A Man"...And has many stars in her crown
for the souls she brought to Jesus.
Women ministered to Jesus in a very personal way....Annointing his head,
washing his feet with tears , drying them with her hair.
They were close by when he was crucified, and cared for him so much that
they would come to the tomb to care for his body even risking the wrath of
the Romans and Sanhedrin...
It was a woman Jesus first appeared to, and a woman he asked to give his
disciples the message that he had risen...to gather in Jerusalem and to
wait.

He (JESUS) does not treat women like they are second best, it is not a
matter of who is best but of a order of nature that God has set up.

God ,angels, men, women, children, animals.
Oh well, Its a never ending subject and I must go for now.
May God Bless.
