Here one for you that backfired a little on the preacher!
True story. And today we have church on Thrusday nights because of it.
When our past pastor was in residence there were two young male saints.
They shared a Trailer house for econmic reasons. Time progressed and
neither of them had a steady girlfriend. One work day, at church, the
pastor casually called them into his office. The large young saint and the
small young siant stood there before the pastor. As he ask them when were
they going to get married. The young saint, always mischievous, ducked his
head acted twitterpatted and replied "I don't know. He hasn't asked me yet.
(indicating the other young saint to both his and the pastor jawdropped
mouth). The pastor laughed so hard at the expression on the large young
saints face that he had to wipe his eyes.
When the peals had ceased the young saints presented their delima to the
pastor. It seems that neither of them felt right in missing their own
church service to attend another to scout for mates. Therefore our services
where moved to Thrusday night. It has remained so for outreach reasons.
People that wouldn't come on Wensday night and miss their demoninational
church would come on the Thrusday. So, this was all a blessing in deguise
after all.
