>Is there a program in the UPC similar to AAA or ALONON that could be
started in a church. I know we do not agree with the AAA "higher-power"
doctrine, but they are a group that draws a lot of folks to a lot of
churches. After they are around the church, they get involved in other
aspects of the church and them you get a new saint.
We have a man who is interested in starting a ALONON program but we
want to be able to point people to Jesus. Anybody have this type of
group going in their church? With our new converts this collective and
buddy system could help. What do you think?

> We have a Christian Intervention Program in our church. I think it is
based in Louisiana (I think). I want to say that it's the Freedom
Ministries (?). I am not sure. I can find out more information for you if
you want. It's a program so that people off the street can come in receive
help. It lasts a couple of months. In the process, you recieve sound
biblical teaching. It ends up being like a discipleship program. Since
this past May or so, we have had I think 7 baptized in Jesus Name. Probably
4 have recieved the Holy Ghost. The brother that is the teacher/instructor
or whatever also does this in several prisons in my area. We have 2 men
that come to church from the prison consistently every week and are living a
victorious life.
