| A man lives on the 75th floor of a high rise building.  Every morning he
| gets into the elevator and presses the button for the ground floor, gets
| out and goes to work.  In the evening, he re-enters the elevator, presses
| the button for the 53rd floor, rides the elevator to this floor and then
| gets out and walks the rest of the way on the steps.  Why?

Isn't the question "What does he do for a living?"

He's a midget in the circus.  He can reach "G" easily, but can't reach 75. 
Another
version says he can only reach 75 when it's raining---he uses his umbrella
to push
the number.
