Sis Diana: I don't know if you have ever heard of the
A.C.T.S. (Alcohol, Chemical Treatment Series) program.
Many of our larger UPC churches are sponsoring these programs
in their communities.

I have a friend in York, PA who is very active in the A.C.T.S.
ministry at her church. From what little I know about the
program, I believe the church must first get "connected" with
the local court system. The court then gives the offender the
option of jail time or going through the A.C.T.S. program series.
My friend said that at times it is very difficult teaching these
classes as they are not permitted to discuss the Holy Ghost,
the plan of salvation or the manner in which the addict can find
TRUE deliverance from their addiction(s).
As with anything, God *always* provides a "back door" when you
can't go through the front entrance. The instructors and
A.C.T.S. workers are free to talk "one on one" with anyone who
wants to stay after class for coffee, doughnuts, etc. :-D.
Some of the people that attend these classes are just
"doing time" but there have been several that have come that
are searching and hungry for a better life. The A.C.T.S. program
sponsored by my friend's church has been instrumental in
winning several souls to the Lord.

If you want to know more, e-mail me privately and I will put
you in contact with my friend.

Sis Donna
