                   THE SECRET OF THE LORD

There are many things about God and His creation which we do not know.
There is no way for us to find out these unrevealed things, except that God
should choose to reveal them to us by His Spirit.

Psalms 25:14 The secret of the LORD [is] with them that fear him; and
he will shew them his covenant.

Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret [things belong] unto the LORD our God:
but those [things which are] revealed [belong] unto us and to our children for
ever, that [we] may do all the words of this law.

Noah was a man who ** Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of
the LORD.** God revealed to him, by some means, that 1) There was going to be
a flood, and 2) It would come at the time of the death of Methuselah-- 120
years hence.

We are not told exactly how Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord,
except ** II Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth
[person], A PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, bringing in the flood upon the world of
the ungodly;**

Genesis 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing
which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty
nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know
him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they
shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may
bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

The outstanding thing about Abraham was his implicit obedience to the
voice of God, and his complete trust in the ability of the Almighty. God
counted him as His friend.

Sodom was on the brink of destruction. God knew it, but no man did.
It was a secret of God.

Job was also a man who had a relationship with God which was pleasing
enough to the Lord for Him to share secrets with him. Job was an UPRIGHT man
and ESCHEWED EVIL.

Job 29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God
[was] upon my tabernacle;

Jacob is one of the marvels of Grace, and shows us a glimpse of what
God can do in the life of one who comes to know Him like Jacob did in his
wrestling with the angel of God. (These conditions don't come easily.)

Genesis 49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather
yourselves together, that I may tell you [that] which shall befall you in the
last days.

Daniel, and the three Hebrew children, had made up their minds-- they
would not cave in to peer pressure in the land of Babylon. They would depend
entirely on God for their defense. (God loves it when we do this.)

Daniel 2:19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night
vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

In his thanksgiving, Daniel said, (Daniel 2:22) He revealeth the deep
and secret things: he knoweth what [is] in the darkness, and the light
dwelleth with him.

Proverbs 3:32 For the froward [is] abomination to the LORD: but his
secret [is] with the righteous.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his
secret unto his servants the prophets.

Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee
great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
