BROTHER DROST:
It is as humanity that he was a person, but before the manifestation
in the flesh I don't believe that God was a person.
ME:
Well, 2 points here.
1. God often speaks in future tense as present, or past tense. For
example, "the lamb slain before the foundations of the world." In
God's mind, He was already slain, because there is no way God would
change His mind. I also believe that we are created in the image of
the Son (the flesh) because God already "knew" what His body of flesh
was to look like; i.e., we are made in HIS image. So, in this
literary and omniscient sense, God has always been a person.
2. It is necassery that we define person, to avoid confusion. As of
right now, I can only picture flesh and blood, and God is most
certainly NOT flesh and blood. To go even deeper, the Father/Holy
Ghost are not flesh, while the Son is. The son, alone, is simply a
human body, capable of sin. But, the Spirit within Him is the Father-
-which makes 'them' one. (John 5:19; 2 Cor 5:19; John 17:21).
