Being the only Americans on my mother's side(who is Canadian) and her
being from a family of 16 altogether you'd think I'd know these things. 
My cousins always knew everything about America and we knew nothing of
Canada. ( Not attempting to speak for all Americans.) My cousins seemed
to be somewhat appalled at our ignorance (and rightly so).
