Bro. Shaw:
I'm not sure I'm understanding your view of the Incarnation, but Jn. 1.14
says the Word became flesh. The Word was God. I don't believe we'll ever
be able to articulate the fact beyond that, but I don't believe that Jesus
was only a mere man animated by the Spirit. He was the Spirit in the flesh.
Mike:
Please believe me when I say that I do *not* believe you are a Trinitarian
with what I am about to say. But the idea of spirit *as* flesh rather than
spirit *in* flesh is one of the main concepts Trinitarians use to defend the
preexistence of the son as a separate person. Remember that the word "word"
does not mean "God" but rather idea, or thought. I believe that the thing
that was with God from the beginning was his plan (word) and this plan became
flesh and dwelt among us. This plan was the reconciliation of man to God
through the instrument of the body, the Christ. I remember you said that you
know that God could *not* die, (and I believe that too) this being the case,
that body could not have been God, but the thing that dwelt in him was.
