[Matthew]:
You make some very valid points on this issue, and I agree wholeheartedly
that men must *first* take responsibility for the home, for leadership in
example, prayer, faithfulness, stewardship, holiness, etc. If the husband
is unwilling, naturally, the wife must assume a more prominent role than I
believe God would will.

Of course, the Bible is full of strong women who exercised a great deal of
godly independence: Esther, Deborah, Ruth, etc. I am in no way trying to
rob women of their contribution to society or the Church. There is a
critical place for women in both, but I believe that role has been
misunderstood and has been reinterpreted to the point that we can no longer
make gender-specific distinctions.

I agree with you totally about the misinterpretation of submission as well.
It is not productive to think of submission as the breaking of the human
will, a despotic hierarchy in the home, Church, job, etc. I think the
principles of submission must be based on love, respect and proper order.

You've made some very good observations, and I thank you for being a godly
woman and an example to so many Apostolic sisters.

Blessings.
