Telephone Invasion

Life is wierd lately.
Driving down the road, looking at those in other cars, I see one hand on
the wheel and another on a little black rectangle they are holding
against their ear that they talk into.
In the grocery stores I have heard a telephone ring and then some lady
reaches into her purse and takes out a little telephone and says "Hello?"
and proceeds to have a conversation. Pure wierdness.
Today I saw a woman crossing guard holding a stopsign in one hand and a
telephone in the other.
Now I'm not anti-technology, but I just can't get used to this. My
husband actually saw a woman talking on two cell phones and driving with
her elbows.
And telemarketers call during supper and all day and evening on our home
phone, not to mention other calls.
Now, I know cell phones are here to stay, but I would like less phone
calls. I went with my daughter to an Amish farm a while back and I
discovered the answer. They had a telephone at the end of their
driveway. YES!!!! I cried! This is the answer! The deliverance from all
telemarketers and unwanted phone calls. I went home and told my husband
and he smiled at me and said something to the effect of "You sure are
cute, hon." That was it.
Well, our driveway IS long. Maybe one by the shed.........
