Ecumenism in Scripture

In the end times there is coming an antichrist and a false prophet with
him.  They will usher in a one world system of government and religion. 
The book of Revelation talks of the false prophet. Rev. 16:13,14 " And I
saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon,
and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false
prophet. They are the spirits of devils, working miracles....."

A false prophet is, of course, a man who teaches false doctrine.  If we
look at our world today, we realize that these are the last days.  All
the signs point to that fact.  Since we know there will be a one world
religion in the last days, we must look for clues in our present world
system that point to this.  We must open our eyes and not have them
closed.

Rev.17:1  And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven
vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto
thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:  2 
With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her
fornication.  3  So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness:
and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Who is the harlot? Rev.17:18 "And the woman which thou sawest is that
great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."  The woman is a
city that has power over kings etc.

What are the waters that the woman sits upon? "The waters where the woman
sitteth are peoples, multitudes,nations and tongues." Rev. 17:15

What are the 7 heads? "And here is the mind that hath wisdom.  The 7
heads are 7 mountains on which the woman sitteth." Rev.17:9

"And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color and decked with
gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full
of abominations and filthiness of her fornication." Rev.17:4

 The Bible says there will be a great whore on the earth in the last
days.  The whore is a city.  This is our first clue.  Think of all the
cities on the earth. The city reigns over the kings of the earth.  It is
also over a multitude of people.  What city can this be?  We have more
clues: The 7 heads are 7 mountains on which the woman sitteth.  

Rome is the "city of 7 hills".  The vatican reigns over multitudes of
people and has power over the kings of the earth.  The cardinals wear red
and archbishops wear purple.  They wear gold crosses.  In mass (Catholic
service) they hold up a golden cup.

The Catholic church goes way back before any Methodist, Baptist etc.
"And upon her forehead was written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE
MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. and I saw the woman
drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of
Jesus....."Rev. 17:5,6  The Catholic church calls herself the "mother
church"  and in the ecumenical movement is trying to get all her
"daughters" to come home. (This terminology is actually used by the
Catholic church.) The Catholic church has been guilty of murdering many
under the name of religion.  The "Daughters" are the many denominations
who "broke away" and started after the reformation but still use the
trinitarian baptism.

I do not believe that the one world religion will all be under one name
or denomination, but rather, have a basic belief system.  The trinity
being a big part of it.

"The Two Babylons" by Alexander Hislop is a great study on this.  Also
Irvin Baxter's books on the endtime are good.

When we talk about "accepting other Christians" we have to be careful.  I
am the only Apostolic in my family.  I understand the need to reach for
people and be kind to them.  However, we cannot embrace theology that
would put us in danger of being part of the one world religion.  We have
got to remain separated.  There have been some that would be overboard
and criticize people rather than criticize doctrine.  We must love people
but hate the bonds they are in.

Jesus is the truth that sets people free.  We receive Jesus by the Acts
2:38 experience.

Concerning "Mystery Babylon" the scripture says "..come out of her my
people that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of
her plagues." Rev.18:4

We must reach for the people who are in Mystery Babylon, at the same time
we must realize who Mystery Babylon is and realize the spirit of
deception that lies behind it.
