Error

Whenever I install a cross-compiler something, the result always is:

--- Begin Capture ---
% ./configure
...
Cross-compiling... Yes
...
Checking to see if compiler works... No
--- End Capture --

My question is if I can select which compiler to use (ie I'd like to
be able to use i586-unknown-linux unless otherwise specified). The
default seems to be to use whichever one is the last installed (not
necessarily the one I want).
