Cross compiler targets

Greetings to you all.  What is the best way to determine the
cross-compilation targets that are supported by egcs 1.1b?  For example, I
can specify "rs6000-ibm-aix" as a cross-compilation target but
"powerpc-ibm-aix" is not valid, yet "powerpc-eabi" and "powerpc-eabiaix"
are supported.  I'm starting to get more confused than I already am.
