Carron Fly
Kelson
|
| | Hook: | Partridge Bartleet Supreme CS10/1 #2/0.
| | Rib: | 4 turns of scarlet silk floss,
with medium silver oval tinsel in between,
wound after the hackle to hold it down.
| | Body: | orange Berlin wool.
| | Hackle: | black dyed blue eared pheasant, tied in at the front.
by the tip, wound contrary to the ribs.
| | Collar: | teal.
| | Wing: | bronze mallard, tented and very low, horizontal style.
| | Head: | brown.
| | Note: | A classic Spey River fly. "Carron" is Gaelic for "shrimp."
The brown thread in the head is my own embellishment,
as I found the black thread on the black hook
caused the head to get lost in it all.
The classic color for the head is black.
