Green Butt Spey
R. J. Brown
Hook: Daiichi 2052 #1.5, nickel finish, Alek Jackson Spey.
Tag: fluorescent lime green rayon floss.
Tail: Lady Amherst pheasant crest.
Rib: 5 turns of medium flat silver tinsel, with fine silver oval tinsel as a counter-rib.
Body: rear 3/5 black uni-floss, front 2/5 black angora dubbing, using Syd Glasso's split floss technique.
Hackle: black coque, leading the flat silver tinsel.
Collar: teal.
Wing: arctic fox.
Head: black.
Note: A modern Spey version of the popular Green Butt Skunk. I have seen a fly similar to this that used white goose shoulder for the wing, but it didn't have that "whoosh" look of the original hairwing green butt skunk, so I tied it as a rather unconventional hairwing Spey fly.
