MPL and $web in 1.8

If someone has a working copy of the $web object (or at least the 
$web:do_login_command) that's running and operating on a 1.8 server, 
could you send me the code?  This is driving me batty.  We have an old 
copy of some web code, (I thought it was MPL), but switching over to use 
1.8's code is proving more difficult than I thought it would be.
