2Ch 12:1
Rehoboam, forsaking the Lord, is punished by Shishak.
2Ch 12:1
FAITHFULNESS-UNFAITHFULNESS
REHOBOAM

And it came to pass, when Rehoboam1 had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook2 the law of the LORD, and all Israel3 with him.

2Ch 12:2
SHISHAK
Egypt
Jerusalem

And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak4 king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because5 they had transgressed against the LORD,

2Ch 12:3
Egypt

With twelve hundred6 chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number7 that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims8, the Sukkiims9, and the Ethiopians10.

2Ch 12:4
Jerusalem

And he took the fenced12 cities which pertained to Judah, and came13 to Jerusalem.

2Ch 12:5
He and the princes, repenting at the preaching of Shemaiah, are delivered from destruction, but not from spoil.
2Ch 12:5
LEADERS, RELIGIOUS
NATION, THE
SHEMAIAH
Jerusalem

Then came Shemaiah14 the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me,15 and therefore have I also left you16 in the hand of Shishak.

2Ch 12:6
HUMILITY-PRIDE

Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled17 themselves; and they said, The LORD18 is righteous.

2Ch 12:7
Jerusalem

And when the LORD19 saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore20 I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some21 deliverance; and my wrath22 shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

2Ch 12:8

Nevertheless23 they shall be his servants; that they may24 know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

2Ch 12:9
REVERENCE-IRREVERENCE
Egypt
Jerusalem

So Shishak25 king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away26 the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields27 of gold which Solomon had made.

2Ch 12:10
BRASS

Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass28, and committed them to the hands of the chief29 of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.

2Ch 12:11

And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber30.

2Ch 12:12

And when31 he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well32.

2Ch 12:13
The reign and death of Rehoboam.
2Ch 12:13
Jerusalem

So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam33 was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city34 which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put35 his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess36.

2Ch 12:14

And he did evil, because he prepared37 not his heart to seek38 the LORD.

2Ch 12:15

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last39, are they not written in the book40 of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo41 the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars42 between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

2Ch 12:16
REHOBOAM

And Rehoboam slept43 with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah44 his son reigned in his stead.
