 Daniel  9
  Vs: 27 En: 966:303  He: 469:199

Da 9:1
Daniel, considering the time of the captivity,
Da 9:1
DARIUS

In the first year of Darius1 the son of Ahasuerus2, of the seed of the Medes, which3 was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

Da 9:2
DANIEL
Jerusalem

In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood4 by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah5 the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations6 of Jerusalem.

Da 9:3
makes confession of sins,
Da 9:3
JOY-SORROW
SEEING GOD

And I set7 my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with8 fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Da 9:4
FAITHFULNESS-UNFAITHFULNESS
PRAYER

And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made9 my confession, and said, O Lord, the great10 and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Da 9:5
CONFESSION-DENIAL

We have sinned11, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing12 from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

Da 9:6

Neither have we13 hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings14, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

Da 9:7
Jerusalem

O Lord, righteousness15 belongeth unto thee,16 but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near17, and that are far off, through all the countries whither18 thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

Da 9:8

O Lord, to us19 belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because20 we have sinned against thee.

Da 9:9

To the Lord21 our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though22 we have rebelled against him;

Da 9:10

Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which23 he set before us by his servants the prophets.

Da 9:11

Yea, all24 Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse25 is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.

Da 9:12
BIBLE, THE; THE WORD OF GOD
Jerusalem

And he hath confirmed26 his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges27 that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under28 the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

Da 9:13
EARNESTNESS-INDIFFERENCE
PENITENCE-IMPENITENCE

As it is29 written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before30 the LORD our God, that we31 might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

Da 9:14

Therefore hath the LORD watched32 upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD33 our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for34 we obeyed not his voice.

Da 9:15
Egypt

And now, O Lord our God, that hast35 brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast36 gotten thee renown37, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

Da 9:16
and prays for the restoration of Jerusalem.
Da 9:16
JERUSALEM
MERCIFULNESS-UNMERCIFULNESS
Jerusalem

O Lord, according38 to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy39 mountain: because for our sins, and for the40 iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem41 and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.

Da 9:17
FAVOUR-DISFAVOUR

Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause42 thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary43 that is desolate, for44 the Lord's sake.

Da 9:18
GRACE, DIVINE
PRAYER

O my God, incline45 thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold46 our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name47: for we48 do not present49 our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

Da 9:19
SALVATION-CONDEMNATION

O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive50; O Lord, hearken and do; defer51 not, for thine52 own sake, O my God: for thy53 city and thy people are called by thy name.

Da 9:20
Gabriel informs him of the seventy weeks.
Da 9:20

And whiles54 I was speaking, and praying, and confessing55 my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for56 the holy mountain of my God;

Da 9:21
GABRIEL

Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man57 Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly58 swiftly59, touched me about the time60 of the evening oblation.

Da 9:22
PRAYER

And he informed61 me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding62.

Da 9:23

At the beginning63 of thy supplications the commandment64 came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved65: therefore understand66 the matter, and consider the vision.

Da 9:24
CHRIST JESUS
FULNESS OF TIME
PERIODS AND NUMBERS
RECONCILIATION

Seventy weeks67 are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish68 the transgression, and to69 make an end of70 sins, and to make71 reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring72 in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up73 the vision and prophecy74, and to anoint75 the most76 Holy.

Da 9:25
PROPHECY
TITLES AND NAMES
Jerusalem

Know therefore and understand77, that from78 the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem79 unto the Messiah80 the Prince81 shall be seven weeks82, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again83, and the wall, even in troublous times84.

Da 9:26

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah85 be cut off, but not86 for himself: and the people87 of the prince89 that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end90 thereof shall be with91 a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined92.

Da 9:27
ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION

And he shall confirm93 the covenant94 with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it95 desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined96 shall be poured upon the desolate97.
