Ho 14:1 An exhortation to repentance. Ho 14:1 •INIQUITY •PENITENCE-IMPENITENCE ¶ O Israel, return1 unto the LORD thy God; for thou2 hast fallen by thine iniquity. Ho 14:2 •AWAKENINGS AND RELIGIOUS REFORMS •PENITENCE-IMPENITENCE •PRAYER Take with3 you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away4 all iniquity, and receive5 us graciously: so will we render the calves6 of our lips. Ho 14:3 •WIDOW AND FATHERLESS Assyria Asshur7 shall not save us; we will not8 ride upon horses: neither9 will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for10 in thee the fatherless findeth mercy. Ho 14:4 A promise of God's blessing. Ho 14:4 •RESTORATION ¶ I will heal11 their backsliding, I will love12 them freely: for13 mine anger is turned away from him. Ho 14:5 •LILY •TREES Lebanon I will be as the dew14 unto Israel: he shall15 grow16 as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. Ho 14:6 •BEAUTY-DISFIGUREMENT •TREES Lebanon His branches17 shall spread18, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell19 as Lebanon. Ho 14:7 •AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE Lebanon They that20 dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive21 as the corn, and grow22 as the vine: the scent23 thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. Ho 14:8 •LIFE-DEATH •TREES ¶ Ephraim shall say, What24 have I to do any more with idols? I have25 heard him, and observed him: I am26 like a green fir tree. From me27 is thy fruit found. Ho 14:9 •PRUDENCE-RASHNESS •WAYS, DIVINE •WISDOM-FOLLY Who is wise28, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for29 the ways of the LORD are right, and the30 just shall walk in them: but31 the transgressors shall fall therein.
