Job 17:1 Job appeals from men to God. Job 17:1 ¶ My breath is corrupt1, my days2 are extinct, the graves3 are ready for me. Job 17:2 Are there not mockers4 with me? and doth not mine eye continue5 in their provocation6? Job 17:3 Lay down now, put me7 in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike8 hands with me? Job 17:4 9For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them. Job 17:5 He that10 speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes11 of his children shall fail. Job 17:6 The unmerciful dealing of men with the afflicted may astonish, but not discourage the righteous. Job 17:6 He hath made me also a byword12 of the people; and aforetime13 I was as a tabret. Job 17:7 Mine eye14 also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members15 are as a shadow16. Job 17:8 Upright men shall be astonied17 at this, and the innocent shall stir up18 himself against the hypocrite. Job 17:9 •DETERIORATION-DEVELOPMENT •STEADFASTNESS-INSTABILITY The righteous also shall hold on19 his way, and he that hath clean20 hands shall be stronger and stronger21. Job 17:10 ¶ But as for you all, do ye return22, and come now: for I23 cannot find one wise man among you. Job 17:11 His hope is not in life, but in death. Job 17:11 My days24 are past, my purposes25 are broken off, even the thoughts26 of my heart. Job 17:12 They change27 the night into day: the light is short28 because of darkness. Job 17:13 •GRAVE, THE If I wait29, the grave30 is mine house: I have made31 my bed in the darkness. Job 17:14 •CORRUPTION I have said32 to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm33, Thou art my mother, and my sister. Job 17:15 •HOPE-DESPAIR And where is now my hope34? as for my hope, who shall see it? Job 17:16 They shall go down to the bars of the pit35, when our rest36 together is in the dust.
