Pryce-Tannatt
Hook: Tiemco TMC 7931C #3/0.
Tag: medium silver oval tinsel from barb to point.
Tail: golden pheasant crest, veiled by golden pheasant tippet.
Rib: medium oval silver tinsel tied in at the rear, wound the usual way, so as to cross the hackles and serve as a counter-rib.
Body: rear 1/2 yellow-orange SLF; front 1/2 black silk floss.
Hackle: rear 1/2 none; front 1/2 black dyed ring necked pheasant rump, tied in at the front by the tip, wound contrary to the usual way, held down by the rib.
Collar: teal.
Cheeks: jungle cock, drooping.
Wing: dark cinnamon turkey tail, mounted flat, V-style.
Head: black.
Note: A classic Dee River fly. Most Akroyds are shown more fully dressed than this. This one closely approximates the appearance of the body on an antique Akroyd in a photograph on page 28 of John Shewey's wonderful book "Spey Flies & Dee Flies, Their History & Construction." This book belongs in every Spey and Dee fly tiers library.
