¶ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In thee,¹ O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver² me in thy righteousness.

Bow³ down thine ear to me; deliver⁴ me speedily: be thou my strong rock⁵, for an house⁶ of defence to save me.

For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy⁷ name's sake lead⁸ me, and guide me.

Pull⁹ me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength¹⁰.

Into¹¹ thine hand I commit my spirit: thou¹² hast redeemed me, O LORD God¹³ of truth.

I have hated¹⁴ them that regard lying¹⁵ vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

I will¹⁶ be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for¹⁷ thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known¹⁸ my soul in adversities;

And hast not shut me¹⁹ up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set²⁰ my feet in a large room.

¶ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine²¹ eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul²² and my belly.

¶ For my life²³ is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength²⁴ faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones²⁵ are consumed.

I was²⁶ a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially²⁷ among my neighbours, and a fear²⁸ to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

I am forgotten²⁹ as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel³⁰.

For I have³¹ heard the slander of many: fear³² was on every side: while³³ they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou³⁴ art my God.

My times³⁵ are in thy hand: deliver³⁶ me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Make³⁷ thy face to shine upon thy servant: save³⁸ me for thy mercies' sake.

Let me³⁹ not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked⁴⁰ be ashamed, and let them⁴¹ be silent in the grave⁴².

Let the lying⁴³ lips be put to silence; which speak⁴⁴ grievous things⁴⁵ proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

¶ Oh⁴⁶ how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up⁴⁷ for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought⁴⁸ for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

¶ Thou shalt hide⁴⁹ them in the secret of thy presence from⁵⁰ the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife⁵¹ of tongues.

Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous⁵² kindness in a strong city⁵³.

For I said⁵⁴ in my haste, I am⁵⁵ cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless⁵⁷ thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

O love⁵⁸ the LORD, all ye his saints⁵⁹: for the⁶⁰ LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully⁶¹ rewardeth the proud doer.

Be of⁶² good courage, and he shall⁶³ strengthen your heart, all ye⁶⁴ that hope in the LORD.
