Ps 71:1 LONG LIFE | ¶ In thee, O LORD, do I1 put my trust: let me2 never be put to confusion. |
Ps 71:2 | Deliver me in thy3 righteousness, and cause4 me to escape: incline5 thine ear unto me, and save me. |
Ps 71:3 BATTLE OF LIFE | Be thou my strong habitation6, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast7 given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock8 and my fortress. |
Ps 71:4 DELIVERANCE | Deliver me, O my God, out of the9 hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. |
Ps 71:5 HOPE-DESPAIR YOUNG PEOPLE | For thou10 art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust11 from my youth. |
Ps 71:6 GRATITUDE-INGRATITUDE | By thee12 have I been holden up from the womb: thou art13 he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise14 shall be continually of thee. |
Ps 71:7 | I am as a wonder15 unto many; but thou art16 my strong refuge. |
Ps 71:8 HONOUR-DISHONOUR | 17Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. |
Ps 71:9 LONG LIFE LONG LIFE | Cast18 me not off in the time of old age19; forsake me not when20 my strength faileth. |
Ps 71:10 BATTLE OF LIFE | ¶ For mine enemies speak against me; and they21 that lay wait for22 my soul take23 counsel together, |
Ps 71:11 | Saying, God24 hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there25 is none to deliver him. |
Ps 71:12 | O God26, be not far from me: O my God, make27 haste for my help. |
Ps 71:13 | Let them be28 confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered29 with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. |
Ps 71:14 | He promises constancy. |
Ps 71:14 GRATITUDE-INGRATITUDE | ¶ But30 I will hope continually, and will yet praise31 thee more and more. |
Ps 71:15 TESTIMONY, RELIGIOUS | My mouth32 shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day33; for I know34 not the numbers thereof. |
Ps 71:16 | I will go35 in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make36 mention of thy righteousness37, even of thine only. |
Ps 71:17 | He prays for perseverance. |
Ps 71:17 INSTRUCTION TEACHER, DIVINE | O God, thou hast38 taught me from my youth: and hitherto39 have I declared thy wondrous works. |
Ps 71:18 PRAYER | Now40 also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength42 unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. |
Ps 71:19 | He praises God, and promises to do it cheerfully. |

Ps 71:20 JOY-SORROW MORTALITY-IMMORTALITY | ¶ Thou, which46 hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken47 me again, and shalt bring48 me up again from the depths of the earth. |
Ps 71:21 COMFORT-MISERY | Thou shalt increase49 my greatness, and comfort50 me on every side. |
Ps 71:22 TITLES AND NAMES | I will also praise thee with the psaltery51, even52 thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou53 Holy One of Israel. |
Ps 71:23 | My lips54 shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul55, which thou hast redeemed. |
Ps 71:24 | My tongue56 also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they57 are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. |
