Ps 143:1	David prays for favour in judgment.
Ps 143:1	¶ *A Psalm of David.* Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness² answer me, and in thy righteousness.
Ps 143:2 •JUSTIFICATION	And enter not³ into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight⁴ shall no man living be justified.
Ps 143:3	He complains of his griefs.
Ps 143:3 •SUFFERING FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS SAKE	For the enemy⁵ hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten⁶ my life down to the ground; he hath made me⁷ to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.
Ps 143:4	Therefore is my spirit⁸ overwhelmed within me; my heart⁹ within me is desolate.
Ps 143:5	He strengthens his faith by meditation and prayer.
Ps 143:5 •MIND, CARNAL-SPIRITUAL	I remember¹⁰ the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.
Ps 143:6 •DESIRE-SATISFACTION •HANDS, LIFTING UP OF, IN PRAYER AND PRAISE	I stretch forth¹¹ my hands unto thee: my soul¹² thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.
Ps 143:7	He prays for grace;
Ps 143:7 •PIT, THE	¶ Hear me¹³ speedily, O LORD: my spirit¹⁴ faileth: hide not¹⁵ thy face from me, lest I be like¹⁶ unto them that go down into the pit.
Ps 143:8	Cause me to hear¹⁷ thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me¹⁸ to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift¹⁹ up my soul unto thee.
Ps 143:9	for deliverance;
Ps 143:9 •BATTLE OF LIFE •DELIVERANCE	Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee²⁰ to hide me.
Ps 143:10	for sanctification;
Ps 143:10 •GUIDANCE •SURRENDERED LIFE, THE	¶ Teach²¹ me to do thy will; for thou art²² my God: thy spirit²³ is good; lead me into the land²⁴ of uprightness.
Ps 143:11 •AWAKENINGS AND RELIGIOUS REFORMS	Quicken²⁵ me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness²⁶' sake bring²⁷ my soul out of trouble.
Ps 143:12	for destruction of his enemies;
Ps 143:12	And of thy mercy²⁸ cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy²⁹ servant.
