David shews that in his trouble all his comfort was in prayer unto God.
Ps 142:1

Maschil of David; A Prayer2 when he was3 in the cave. I cried unto the LORD with my voice4; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

CONTENT-DISCONTENT

I poured out5 my complaint before him; I shewed6 before him my trouble.

KNOWLEDGE-IGNORANCE
SNARES LAID BY THE WICKED

When my spirit7 was overwhelmed within me, then thou8 knewest my path. In the way9 wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

Ps 142:4
FRIENDSHIP-FRIENDLESSNESS

I looked10 on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge11 failed me;12 no man cared for my soul.

Ps 142:5
RIGHTEOUS-WICKED

I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art13 my refuge and my portion14 in the land15 of the living.

Ps 142:6

Attend unto my cry; for I am16 brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they17 are stronger than I.

Ps 142:7

Bring my soul18 out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous19 shall compass me about; for thou shalt20 deal bountifully with me.
