Ps 57:1 David in prayer fleeing unto God, complains of his dangerous case. Ps 57:1 •FAITH-UNBELIEF •PROVIDENCE DIVINE ¶ To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when2 he fled from Saul in the cave. Be3 merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul4 trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow5 of thy wings will I make my refuge, until6 these calamities be overpast. Ps 57:2 I will cry unto God most7 high; unto God that8 performeth all things for me. Ps 57:3 He shall send9 from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him10 that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send11 forth his mercy and his truth. Ps 57:4 My soul is among12 lions: and I lie even among them that are set13 on fire, even the sons of men, whose14 teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue15 a sharp sword. Ps 57:5 •HONOUR-DISHONOUR Be thou16 exalted, O God, above17 the heavens; let thy glory18 be above all the earth. Ps 57:6 •NET They have prepared a net19 for my steps; my soul20 is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. Ps 57:7 He encourages himself to praise God. Ps 57:7 •HEART, THE HUMAN ¶ My21 heart is fixed22, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Ps 57:8 •DEVOTIONAL LIFE Awake23 up, my glory24; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early25. Ps 57:9 26I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. Ps 57:10 ¶ For27 thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth28 unto the clouds. Ps 57:11 •EXALTATION-ABASEMENT 29Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
