¶ To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm² of Asaph³. I cried⁴ unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave⁵ ear unto me.

In the⁶ day of my⁷ trouble I sought the Lord: my sore⁸ ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

I remembered⁹ God, and was troubled: I complained¹⁰, and my spirit¹¹ was overwhelmed. Selah.

Thou holdest¹² mine eyes waking: I am¹³ so troubled that I cannot speak.

¹⁴I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

I call to remembrance my song¹⁵ in the night: I commune¹⁶ with mine own heart: and¹⁷ my spirit made diligent search.

Will the Lord¹⁸ cast off for ever? and will¹⁹ he be favourable no more?

Is his²⁰ mercy clean gone for ever? doth²¹ his promise fail for evermore²²?

Hath God²³ forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up²⁴ his tender mercies? Selah.

¶ And I said, This is²⁵ my infirmity: but I will remember the years²⁶ of the right hand of the most High.

¶²⁷I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

I will meditate²⁸ also of all thy work, and talk²⁹ of thy doings.

Thy way³⁰, O God, is in the sanctuary: who³¹ is so great a God as our God?

Thou art the God³² that doest wonders: thou hast³³ declared thy strength among the people.

Thou hast with³⁴ thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons³⁵ of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

³⁶The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine³⁸ arrows also went abroad.

The voice³⁹ of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings⁴⁰ lightened the world: the earth⁴¹ trembled and shook.

Thy way⁴² is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps⁴³ are not known.

¶⁴⁴Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
